Community Update – December 2023
It’s been a jam-packed year at Aston Hills, with some major masterplanning milestones being met in our growing community. With a brand new shopping centre and local cafe open, a growing display village completed, a brand new range of home and land packages, progress on our Lanser Living turnkey homes, and our final section of Heysen Boulevard opened, we’re proud to look back at a busy year and share the highlights with you all.
Most of all we have been proud to welcome so many new families to Aston Hills and to host a series of fun community events for everyone. We are looking forward to even more construction and community celebrations with you all in 2024!
Heysen Boulevard Opened
2023 started with the opening of our final section of Heysen Boulevard in Aston Hills! This final piece of construction on this connector road has created convenient and safe access to the freeway for the region, and opened up access to the Summit Sport and Recreation Park and the Aston Hills Shopping Centre. Our section of boulevard at Aston Hills is now complete, and we have delivered 1950m of the road, representing 31% of the total road length.
We Got Moving at Aston Hills!
We kicked off 2023 with a series of fun boot camps in our Central Lakes precinct with the talented team from Adelaide Hills Women’s Fitness Studio! Many laughs were had, many connections were made with new neighbours, and new friendships were forged. A special shout out to Shelley and Charlene who helped us make these boot camps happen!
The Aston Hills Shopping Centre Opened its Doors
The team at Lanser along with everyone in our Aston Hills community was beyond thrilled to see the Aston Hills Shopping Centre open its doors in March 2023. The shopping centre has provided a wealth of amenity to our community including three new eateries, two gyms, a Pilates studio, an Amcal pharmacy, a Drakes supermarket, a Cellarbrations store and much more! We look forward to announcing even more new tenants in 2024.
AFL Gather Round Came to Town
In April, Mt Barker hosted its first ever AFL Gather Round at the Summit Sport and Recreation Park. This is just across the road from Aston Hills, giving some of our residents front row seats to the game from their balcony! In 2023, we hosted a Pre-Game Party at our Sales Centre complete with face painting in team colours and football giveaways. We can’t wait to do it all again in 2024!
Susa Kitchen Opened
We have been thrilled to welcome the Susa team to Aston Hills! This incredible eatery has made Aston Hills a go-to destination for food lovers from all over Adelaide. With views out over our Central Lakes, an incredible menu, coffee by De Groot and a handpicked selection of local beer & wine – Susa has been an incredible addition to our community. We look forward to more brunch dates and long lunches here in 2024!
Aston Hills Breaks All-Time Sale Price Record!
In 2023, 26 Seymour Drive broke the all-time Aston Hills sales price record by fetching $1,150,000! This stunning 5 bedroom family home in our Pinnacle precinct was built by Master Constructions Australia, and enjoys incredible views of the Summit. The team at Master Constructions Australia also built the home that set the previous Aston Hills’ sales price record at 17 Spicer Street.
Construction Commenced on the Regional Aquatic Centre
In 2023 construction commenced on Mount Barker’s Aquatic and Leisure Centre across the road from Aston Hills. The Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre has been designed with facilities and activities for all ages and abilities and will feature four pools, including a splash pad, a warm water therapy pool, and a 25m metre, and a 10 lane competition capable lap pool. Besides the four pools, the new aquatic centre will boast a gym and fitness rooms, wet and dry cafe, and community meeting rooms. Construction of the Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre is expected to be complete by the end of summer 2024/2025.
The Largest Display Village in the Adelaide Hills
Our display village continued to grow in 2023 as we welcomed 12 brand new homes, taking our total to 22 homes on display. Our village is located on Muirfield Street in our Range precinct, just opposite the Summit Sport and Recreation Park. A huge thank you to all of our builder partners who have joined our village, it’s been a fantastic year and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors to our village next year. Maplewood Continues to Grow
Construction at Maplewood in Aston Hills has progressed, with this premium precinct proving popular. Close to our new shopping centre, our mountain bike adventure park and Susa kitchen this is a beautiful lifestyle destination and Hills address for growing families. Lanser Living at Aston Hills
Progress has been made across our range of Lanser Living homes at Aston Hills, including our Archer and Addison homes being constructed in the Village Release nd the Clubhouse Collection being constructed along Heysen Boulevard in The Range overlooking the Aston Hills Golf Club. We are excited to reveal that we have more plans for our fixed price turnkey Lanser Living homes at Aston Hills in the coming year! Mt Barker United Sponsors

We know many of our residents are members at the club, and we’re proud to be part of the growth and sense of community that the MBUSC brings to the region.
We Felt the Love on Valentine’s Day!
We ran our first ever Valentine’s Day competition, encouraging everyone to share what they loved about living at Aston Hills. We loved reading and sharing everyone’s Aston Hills stories, and the lucky winners got a date night voucher to Schnithouse in the Aston Hills Shopping Centre!

Eggfest at the Aston Hills Golf Club
Resident extraordinaire Sadie helped our team to organise an Easter event at the Aston Hills Golf Club. With an egg hunt, game and prizes and a guest appearance from the Eater Bunny, everyone had an eggs-ellent time! Thanks for your help Sadie!
School Holiday Fun!
This year we hosted our first ever program of school holiday events in the Aston Hills Shopping Centre. We partnered with the Mount Barker Council and the Mount Barker Community Centre to host two days of fun activities for children including free ice cream, a visit from the local fire service and a Story Time session with the crew from the Mount Barker Community Library. A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen!
The Summit Leisure Precinct
The Summit Leisure Precinct was announced in 2023, revealing plans for a range of exciting amenities and attractions right next door to Aston Hills. The development plans include dining options, shopping precincts, a proposed tourist park, a mini golf course, an aerial ropes course plus green spaces for relaxation and socialising. This precinct is set to be an exciting new destination for families in South Australia conveniently located within walking distance of Aston Hills’ residents!
Halloween Fun
Thanks to the team at Drakes, spooky fun was had by all at Aston Hills this year! They hosted a face painter in-store to ensure that all the little ghouls and goblins looked fangtastic. We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!
Landscaping Legends
We were thrilled to re-launch our Landscaping Legends competition at Aston Hills in 2023 to reward all of our resident gardeners who help to keep Aston Hills looking gorgeous! Each month our residents nominate a legendary front garden by posting a picture on social media using the hashtags #LandscapingLegends and #AstonHills and our judges select who will win the monthly $250 prize. Congrats to all of our winners in 2023!
Mountain Bike Clinics at Aston Hills
This year we continued our popular school holiday mountain bike clinics at Aston Hills in partnership with the Mount Barker Council and the team at Head for the Hills Cycling. These clinics are held every school holidays for beginners and intermediate riders – to find out what’s on during the Christmas break, head on over to the Head for the Hills website.
Adelady Visits Aston Hills
We had some special visitors at Aston Hills this month! Hayley and Lauren from Adelady visited us in Mount Barker to explore all that Aston Hills has to offer. From coffee at Susa to our mountain bike bike park, the new Aston Hills Shopping Centre, our display village and the Aston Hills Golf Club, the girls took it all in! Merry & Bright at Aston Hills
We are excited to be running our first ever Christmas Lights competition at Aston Hills. We will be rewarding the sparkliest home these holidays with a $250 Drakes voucher! We look forward to finishing 2023 with a fun and festive spirit at Aston Hills and look forward to another eventful and fun year with our community in 2024!
