Funding Announced for new Aquatic Centre
The State Government has announced $7.3 million in funding for Mount Barker’s new Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre…
Treasurer Rob Lucas has announced a brand new Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program (LGIPP) with the Marshall Liberal Government injecting $106.9 million in stimulus for up to 57 South Australian projects. This investment includes $7.3 million for Mount Barker’s Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
The total stimulus program is estimated to be somewhere in the order of $270 million to $290 million.
The Program – part of the Marshall Government’s record $4 billion economic ‘adrenalin hit’ to turbo-charge the state’s strong ongoing jobs and economic recovery from COVID-19 – is expected to support hundreds of local construction jobs, with construction required to begin within the next 12 months.
“From brand new aquatic centres and community hubs to children’s playgrounds, intersection upgrades and a redeveloped Thebarton Theatre, the Marshall Government is investing significantly to deliver better services for South Australians.
“This program is an immediate and targeted cash injection that will deliver long-lasting, tangible benefits for families and communities in every corner of the state.”
The Mount Barker Council has plans for the Regional Aquatic Centre which will be built adjacent to the Summit Sport Park, which will be within walking distance to each home at Aston Hills and is set to include:
– A 10-lane 25m competition capable lap pool
– An integrated learn to swim, leisure and children’s pool
– Fitness centre
– Creche
– Meeting rooms
– Kiosk/café to service both the centre and adjacent walking trail
– Change rooms, toilets and associated amenities
